What We Collect
To make EXP work, we collect basic account info like your phone number or login credentials, display name, handle, profile picture, and your age to confirm you are 13 or older. When you use the app, we save the content you share—like experience completions, posts, comments, reactions, and messages—as well as your experience progress and board scores. If you choose to enable them, we also save your notification preferences and calendar reminders you ask us to add.
Camera, Microphone, And Real Proof
EXP is all about doing real things in the real world, so completing experiences requires taking photos or videos live in the app. We only access your camera and microphone when you actively take a proof photo, record a video, or choose a profile picture. EXP may use your device's speakers and/or microphone when you create or join a group. We never record audio or video in the background.
Location And Verification
When you complete a location-based experience (like visiting a landmark, park, or venue), EXP checks your device's location to verify you are there. Your exact GPS coordinates are kept strictly private and used only for verification—they are never shown on your profile or public feeds. If you choose to display location on a public post, we only show a general label (such as the venue name or city).
Personalization And App Activity
We use your in-app activity—such as the experiences you view, complete, or skip—to recommend new experiences, events, and scenes you might enjoy. Any private interest preferences you pick stay private and are never shown on your profile. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites for advertising.
Device Info And Diagnostics
We collect basic technical information, like your device model, operating system, and app version, to ensure EXP runs smoothly and to fix bugs when crashes occur. Diagnostic and crash reports are stripped of personal identifying details.
Your Controls And Choices
You are always in control of your data. In your Profile settings, you can adjust post visibility, turn off public location labels, manage notification preferences and quiet hours, and block or mute other accounts. You can also download a copy of your account data or permanently delete your account directly from the app at any time.
